Explore the reef without getting your feet wet. SubSea Explorer is a custom-built vessel offering a unique underwater view of Ningaloo’s marine life and coral structures from below the waterline. This tour combines coral viewing aboard SubSea Explorer with a snorkel session at one of our preferred sites in the Tantabiddi Sanctuary. It is a strong fit for families and groups with mixed swimming abilities: snorkel if you wish, or stay dry and enjoy the reef through 16 large windows below sea level.

Included: Coral viewing, live marine-biologist commentary and a guided snorkel. Masks, snorkels and fins are provided.

Our half-day SubSea Explorer experience includes two snorkelling sites and, when conditions allow, a drift snorkel. Guest numbers are capped for extra space and more personal attention, while the two deck areas provide room to relax and take in the reef.

Included: Coral viewing, live marine-biologist commentary, two snorkelling sites, snorkelling equipment and a light refreshment at the end of the tour.

A Semi Submarine, sometimes called a Semi Submersible submarine, is a boat with a lower deck that sits below the waterline, fitted with large glass windows so you can see the reef and marine life without getting wet.

Current tour prices are: 1 hour: from AUD $65; 2 hour: from AUD $99; and 3 hour: from AUD $160. The booking page shows live availability and any updated rates before checkout.

No. The Semi Submarine stays above the water the whole time, with viewing done through the glass windows below deck, so no swimming ability is required. Snorkelling is optional on our 2 hour and half-day tours for anyone who would like to get in the water.

Expect coral gardens, tropical fish, and regular sightings of turtles, rays, and reef sharks. On a good day, our resident Queensland grouper makes an appearance too. What you see can vary with the tides, the season, and a bit of luck.

Yes. Because there is no swimming required to see the reef, this is a comfortable option for young children, older guests, or anyone who would rather not get in the water. Carpeted, sheltered seating and a smooth, stable ride make it an easy trip for the whole family.
